Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy
The patient’s blood is placed in a centrifuge where each part of the blood is separated. The platelet rich plasma is isolated and used to inject into the patient’s scalp.
PRP is rich in growth factors having long been used for enhanced wound healing and joint restoration and has now been found to actually stimulate new hair growth. This therapy can be used in conjunction with the surgical hair restoration procedures or as a stand-alone for patients electing not to have surgery.
Several studies have shown an increase in hair density at four months, lasting up to a year. PRP injections are generally performed twice a year.
